Chirp, Chirp

Saturday I hosted a baby shower at my house for one of my husband's best friends. It was bird themed and it turned out SO cute!! They are having a little boy in May. We made bird's nest cupcakes, thumb print cookies and orange balls and all of it was delicious. I think the punch was the biggest hit!

These next few weeks are going to be jammed packed for me!! This Saturday my sister is having her bridal shower, the next Saturday is my father in law's 50th birthday party, the next Saturday is Grady's first birthday party, and then the next Saturday is my sister's wedding!!! Whew! It will be so much fun!! Have a great day!!

Rough Week

I turned 26 on Thursday. 26. Gees. Doesn't seem old when you get there, but I remember thinking that 25 was old. I had to spend my day at work taking NRP (basically CPR for neonates). Not how I wanted to spend my birthday. I did end the day with my boys and husband so all was well.

Tuesday I went to the cardiologist and we decided that a cardiac ablation would be best for me. It is fairly a minor procedure and I just have to spend one night in the hospital for monitoring. They don't even have to put you to sleep for it just concious sedation. It is going to be in March but I do not know the date yet.

Friday morning my sweet neighbor passed away. She was our age and graduated high school with Cody. She has two sweet little boys, Christian who is 2 1/2 and Jonathan who is 5 months old. Please keep them and her husband Leo in your prayers.

This week will be much better! Happy Valentine's Day!!

And the Beat Goes On

Has your heart ever raced really fast? Now I am talking like REALLY fast. Like you think it is going to pop out of your chest? Well...that happened to me the other night only I couldn't get my heart rate to slow down. I woke up at 10:00p.m. with a racing heart rate of about 200-250 beats. We were fixing to go to the ER when it converted back to sinus rhythm on its own. I decided not to go to the ER because I was not having any symptoms and they couldn't do anything for me if it wasn't racing. The next day I called my primary care physician and she ordered some labs and an EKG and a 24 hour holter monitor, which is a monitor that stays on my body for 24 hours and monitors my heart hence 24 hour holter monitor. Anyways, the labs were all normal and so was my EKG. We got the results back of my holter reading on Wed. night and it showed SVT, which is supraventricular tachycardia, sinus arrythmias, and an interventricular pathway defect.

I know, sounds horrible doesn't it? Truth is, it's not that bad. Yeah I freaked but that's just me. Being a nurse is horrible when it comes to your health and sometimes ignorance is bliss. I am scheduled to go see a cardiologist next week and we will figure out what to do then. I don't feel any different and I honestly don't ever feel when my heart is acting up, except for that one incident. The treatment for this is either medication, nothing or a little procedure called an ablation. None of which are too terrible bad. I appreciate all of the prayers and if you would continue to pray for me as I go to the cardiologist.

Thanks again!
